Sweet & Sour Braised Cabbage
Ingredients
- 4 slices of bacon
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 1/2 cups onion (yellow/white), chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 10 cups savoury cabbage (any type, I like Taiwanese cabbage) chopped to half in slices
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp of red pepper flake
- 1/2 cup of water (if cooked on stovetop, 1/4 if in pressure cooker)
Directions
- You can stove top or instant pot this, the difference is in cooking time.
- Cut up bacon 1 cm bits, turn Instant Pot to sauté mode (or stove to medium) and cook until brown.
- Add in onion and garlic, cook another 3 minutes or until onions are soft.
- Add Cabbage
- Add cider vinegar, brown sugar, salt and red pepper flake.
- Add water and stir.
- If cooking with instant pot, set to pressure cook for 7 minutes. If stovetop cooking, cook around 40-45 minutes.
